- In a pressure cooker, Add water + pinch of salt and add the soaked dal.. Close the lid and pressure cook on low medium flame for 3-4 whistles until both the lentils are softened and mushy..... When the pressure settles on its own in the cooker then open the lid and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan, Add cumin seeds + Onions and green chillies... Saute for few minutes.
- Add chopped garlic. Mix and cook until golden brown.
- Add spices: Salt + red chilli powder+ turmeric powder.
- Add mixture of tomato puree and grated ginger.. Mix and cook until oil separates.
- When oil separates completely.
- Add the boil dal into the gravy..Add water (according to you own choice).The dal shouldn't be runny or watery,but have a medium consistency..Mix all the ingredients nicely and cook until all ingredients mixed properly....
- Transfer in a serving bowl (you can also add fresh coriander leaves).
- Goes best with steam rice and rotis.
